Default Thermometer icon....?

I got my new Sidekick 2008 this morning. Seems great for the most part. The battery only had one bar out of the box, so I plugged in the device with the charger that it came with. After about an hour of charging, the battery icon on the device turned into a thermometer. It went away when I unplugged it. Anyone know why it would do this? I've had every sidekick there has been besides the LX and have never seen one of my devices do this.

This is because the device is heating up. Make sure your device is not charging in a hot room or outside where its hot.

You did the right thing about unplugging it and plugging it back.

Have fun with your new device.

I just got this phone this morning, so it's the first time I have seen this issue. I never had this sort of problem with previous sidekicks.
I am charging it in my house and it isn't in sunlight or any extreme temperature.

Yeah I know what you mean I have the Lx and I'm having this same problem and remember if you paid retail price for your device then you get a 30 day buyers remorse if you got it under a plan then 14 unless your in Cali where it is 30 regardless

I'm trying out a different battery to see if that could be it but my phone is never in extream heat and it still does this I'll get back to you on this once I test it out.

I just tried charging with the USB port on computer and it's doing the same thing.

Blah. Jon, I would turn off your device.. turn off your device and put the charger ( From the wall ) into the phone. That should work..

Try that.

You phone just needs a cooling down stage.

canonjon,

Have you received the OTAu for the 2008 yet? I'm wondering if the OTAu is to help correct this heating issue. I've only heard of other people having this problem besides you. My device has been fine but i accepted the OTAu right when i got it. If you haven't would you mind posting your OS version and build number? Settings>system info> Push Menu + M to see the OS version and build numbers next to it. It'll look something like "OS 4.7/231400"

Well in case you didn't know the OTA is preinstalled on the device the blue or brown Lx are the only ones that has to receive the update and the OS is 4.7 on that model
