Singapore uses GSM 900/1800 and the Sidekick ID uses GSM 850/1900 so it will never connect in Singapore.

Thanks for the reply. If i buy an unlock code from online, will i be able to use the sidekick with my network? I'm only using it for messages and calls only.

No. The device's hardware does not support your local cellular network type and there's no way to change that.

An unlock code would be useless because of this.

Really? but i've seen some of the people here using sidekick 2. And they claim they brought the unlock code. How true is this?

The Sidekick 2 is triband and supports the 1800Mhz cell band. The Sidekick iD is only dual band and does not support 1800Mhz.

If you buy an unlocked sidekick with the right frequencies you can use it (phone and sms only).

If you really want to use an unlocked sidekick (no data of course), get something newer like an LX or Slide, at least you'd be able to save pictures to a memory card and since they're quadband GSM they'd definetly work.
