Slide Official

T-Mobile UK held a press conference last night in Mayfair, London to officially launch the Sidekick Slide in the UK.
The specs haven't changed and it will be out on November 9th in store and online free on Flext30+web'n'walk upwards.

Head of handset and device marketing for T-Mobile, Daniel Meredith, said: 'The T-Mobile Sidekick Slide is the ultimate handset for people who want the freedom to email or IM mates, update their profile on Facebook or to surf the internet the way they like.'

Interesting that they mention Facebook specifically and that the old coming soon description said 'Blog from your mobile'. I wonder if the UK will receive a Facebook application similar to the MySpace one already available in the US. A Facebook application has just been released by Facebook in collaboration with RIM for BlackBerry devices so one for Sidekick is possible, I think.

Worryingly on one website's write-up of the press launch they say that the handset comes with a Yahoo! instant messaging client but that other clients would not be able to be downloaded to the handset. I seriously, SERIOUSLY hope T-Mobile UK hasn't lost their AIM contract.

Details as to what is actually on the phone at launch are sketchy but a lot of the companies that attended the launch have been given handsets to review so these reviews should be online in the next few days.
The title bar has changed from red to a slightly garish bright pink.

Finally something very positive to note is that I was told by T-Mobile that the reason the Slide had been delayed was because of the 2dot problem so many of us have suffered from, particularly in the last month or 2.
But now the Slide is official, and I have had solid G for the last 2 days so I'm hoping that they have managed to resolve that issue for good.

Anyway, I guess we'll see in 2 weeks time!

looks pretty nice. it's probably going to be really nice since motorola made it. i love moto devices... wish the screen was bigger tho.

i didn't want the slide, but now after just dropping my sidekick like 2 minutes ago and making the screen sorta break it's looking kinda nice right now.

its a different phone but whatever and like im still not sure wether i can deal with another kick, but i really really want this one!!!!!!!

I was totally not interested in this phone til i just saw those shots.
