Unhappy Done with the MySpace App.

After yet another frustrating experience with the MySpace app, I decided to discard it and forget about it. I have a few reasons for doing so, just like many of you, the readers, also have your reasons.

Note that this involves the SK3, not the LX or the iD.

At first, the app seemed fine at face value. I could click on things, see my top friends, etc. There are some great things the app attempts (and does succeed) to do, such as utilizing an easy-to-navigate tab system. Once I started to get into it a bit more, though, it simply refused to work. Whether it was comments not adding at all, significantly delayed information, nonsensical error messages (like "User has no photos" or "You must be this user's friend..." when they DO have photos and they ARE my friend), or the blatent standstill freezes that bog the device down, none of the actual features of MySpace worked properly.

It makes me wonder if it was obvious to the developers that there would be issues on a dated (by hardware standards) device, and so dropped the monthly cost as a compromise. Why waste all that time in the office for nothing? The free period, on the other hand, is interesting, and I'm sure there will be more than enough regular subscribers because of it, but I won't be one of them.

Look, to fix all the problems I listed above, the app just needs to be yanked and reworked. If it's not actually the app, but MySpace itself, I won't be surprised at all. I've said it before, it's one of the most poorly-coded sites on the Internet - to get anything to interface with it must be agonizing. So why release a practically unusable piece of software? If it really is that hard to have this app-to-site communication going on with MySpace, maybe another option should have been proposed. I don't claim to be a coder at all, so I'm not entirely sure what the thought process and brain storming this type of media involves, perhaps someone can give us the inside scoop. Anyway, I haven't tried the app on an LX, so I'm wondering if the bogged-down-processor feel exists on it as well.

All in all, I know Danger is getting plenty of publicity for this, and is sure to have many regular subscribers to the service, and I have no doubt that Danger employees will defend the app to the end. I wanted to share my experience on these forums like everyone else, and the purpose of the new topic was to clearly set out my reasons for dislike and how things can change.

What do YOU think? :)

I agree with you all the way. That's how the myspace application is on the Sidekick. They really do need to work on that. Its not even real-time at all. It doesn't work as smooth. At least Danger tried and I'm sure they will work on that and fix the problem and upgrade it. In the mean time I'm keeping it. I mean, it is free until Dec. Also its only 1.99 month. Cheaper than Weather Underground. Myspace app uses a lot of the network and battery I notices. Danger did good on that app. It just needs alittle bit more work.

Yeah unfortunatly this app isn't working to its expectations... I really hope that they can improve it if they want to gain money off of it.

I've had so many problems with this app.
I just HAD to discard it. It slowed down my sk3 so much. I kept getting this low memory state on my browser and it wasn't that good even. Sure the instant message and comment thing came in handy responding to friends but other then that its poor, very. I'd expect the layout to be different too, like the actually myspace. It also comes in handy to see peoples hidden top and hidden comments if you haven't noticed lol

Well unfortunately they wont change anything about the app as long as ppl continue to buy it. Same thing with the expensive ring tones as long as ppl are paying for them they are just going to keep disregarding the issue until they have to.

This is just more proof that Myspace is just a waste of time and does not contribute anything to society or life except for petifiles and post-highschool drama.
